Internal & Semester-End Assessment

Sreenidhi University follows a balanced evaluation approach—50% Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) conducted by faculty during the semester, and 50% Semester-End Examination (SEE) conducted by the Controller of Examinations. This dual system ensures continuous engagement and fair performance measurement.

  • The External Assessment Pattern as managed by the Controller of Examinations (CoE) is an essential component of the university's academic regulations. It defines the structure, rules, and guidelines for the semester-end examinations
  • External exams are usually conducted over several days, with each exam having a specific duration (e.g., Three hours per exam). The CoE manages the weight distribution based on the academic regulations and ensures that the exam format aligns with the learning objectives of the course.
  • The CoE prepares and publishes the exam schedule in advance, providing students with details of the dates, timings, and venues of their exams. This schedule is typically available on the university’s official website.
  • The CoE provides students with instructions about the exam format, materials allowed (e.g., calculators, notes), and other essential details. Students must adhere to these instructions strictly.
  • The CoE ensures that answer scripts are evaluated fairly and consistently by faculty members and implements a marking scheme for each exam, ensuring that the evaluation is standardized.
  • After the completion of evaluation, the CoE is responsible for Result processing and Result publication.
  • The CoE processes the results based on the marks awarded by the examiners. It ensures that the grades are accurately calculated. The CoE publishes the results through official channels, typically on the university’s website or student portal, and informs students of their final grades.
  • The CoE manages the re-evaluation process if a student is dissatisfied with their results. Students can apply for a re-evaluation of their answer scripts within a specified time frame. The CoE manages this process by assigning the script to another examiner.
  • Internal Assessment (CIA – Continuous Internal Assessment) – 50% - Conducted throughout the semester by respective Schools/Faculty
  • Semester-End Examination (SEE) – 50% - Conducted at the end of the semester by the Office of the Controller of Examinations

Grading System

The grading system determines how students' performance in Semester-End Exams is translated into grades. The CoE is responsible for ensuring that the grading system adheres to the academic regulations of the institution. Based on the marks obtained by students, they are assigned letter grades (e.g., O, A, B, C) and corresponding grade points (e.g., 10, 9, 8,7) according to the grading scale. The CoE ensures the proper calculation of the Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) based on the grades obtained in Semester-End exams and internal assessments. The CoE enforces the minimum passing grade (e.g., Grade C or above) for students to successfully clear their end-semester exams.

Honour Code and Exam Conduct

The Controller of Examinations upholds the Honour Code by ensuring all students follow exam rules, including maintaining discipline, preventing malpractice, and adhering to dress codes. It enforces policies on academic integrity, addressing cheating, plagiarism, and dishonesty. Violations may result in penalties such as disqualification, re-examination, or other disciplinary actions.
